Tutoring made easy.

George Blumenthal Tutoring

I am a private tutor with 500+ hours experience teaching both in-person and online.

I have helped students to attain outstanding results in their 11+ and 13+ exams, GCSEs and A-Levels.

I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2023 with a first-class degree in English Literature, and with a minor degree in Linguistics, in which I scored a high first-class.

I have just completed an interim year studying Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews, and I will be doing an MPhil in Theoretical & Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge beginning in October 2024.

My areas of expertise include English literature and language, philosophy, and history. I also offer lessons in Latin, Greek, French and maths (up to GCSE).

I offer a free consultation session, where we can discuss your academic goals, and how I can help you to achieve them.

Expertise in my subject areas

With over 500 hours of tutoring experience, I have successfully prepared students for their 11+, 13+, GCSEs and A-Levels. I have extensive experience teaching both online and in-person.

Tutoring should not be done with a one-size-fits-all attitude. Each student has his or her own optimal way of learning. As such, I tailor my tutoring methods to suit each of my students.

Testimonials

  • We highly recommend George as an English language teacher. We have seen great improvement in our daughter's reading, text comprehension, vocabulary and confidence. George's patient and engaging teaching style has made a significant difference, and we're grateful for his dedication to helping our daughter to achieve her potential.

  • Our son is not a native speaker of English, and he needed support. Since starting with George, his confidence in English has skyrocketed. There has been a noticeable difference in his reading and comprehension skills. They read and discuss classic literature, as well as covering formal grammar. George is very engaging and encouraging.

Beyond Tutoring

From October, I will be studying an MPhil in Theoretical & Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge. I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2023 with a first-class degree in English Literature, and a minor degree in Linguistics, in which I scored a high-first class. My dissertation project included an in-depth discussion of Paradise Lost.

I am also an established musician, with over a million cross-platform streams. I spent some years as a radio host, during which I interviewed many high-profile musicians. During my undergraduate years, I had an events company, under which I held many sold out events at 500+ capacity.

I was also heavily involved in student media, writing articles for the student newspaper, the Mancunion, and making documentaries for the student TV station, Fuse TV. One of my documentaries was awarded best short documentary of any university in the country by the National Student Television Association. I am currently working on a documentary about life in student halls in the University of Manchester during COVID.
